Even though we saw first responders saving lives in movies, in reality it is more complicated to provide the right chest compressions or use use a defibrillator.
To make sure that the right actions are taken at the right time, we will use connected manikins showing your performance in real time, as well as practicing with the defibrillator following different scenarios.
The React Right certification is issued by SSI (Scuba Schools International).
Yet, the course is addressed to divers and non-divers.
The certification is valid for 2 years. We can of course renew / update it together.
This course is open from 12 years old, and each student will have a lifelong access to the digital learning kit.
Four distinctive sections of emergency responses are covered:
- How to provide First Aid
- How to perform CPR
- How to use an AED
- How to provide emergency oxygen
These sections are detailed below.
This section will cover the different emergencies we can face as bystanders, such as cuts and scraps, heat strokes, burns, chocking, fainting, drownings, seizures, sprains or fractures...
Understanding what happened and how to react will solve little problems, or possibly save a life while waiting for emergency medical services to arrive.
CPR consists in chest compressions and rescue breaths to help a person who stopped breathing or had a cardiac arrest.
We will learn how to recognise when CPR is needed, how to perform it properly and provide basic life support for adults, children and infants.
These days, AED's are accessible almost everywhere. Combined with CPR, they can increase the survival chances of a person who had a cardiac arrest by 50 to 70% !
While they are usually user friendly, it is important to know how to use one safely while facing a stressing situation.
Oxygen is what sustains life.
Be it after a drowning, a cardiac arrest or a boat accident, knowing how to assemble and effectively use an oxygen kit can be the difference between life and death.
Upon registration, you will have access to your online learning material to study.
Once we meet, the complete course will take 6 to 8 hours (depending on the chosen specialties):
- Theory review and exam
